Pool maintenance in Marbella: what homeowners should check every week

Professional pool maintenance at a residential property

A pool in Marbella can look perfectly clear while the water balance or filtration system is quietly heading in the wrong direction. Regular care is less glamorous than the finished photograph, but rather more useful to the person paying for the equipment.

What should be checked every week?

Pool care varies by season, usage and system type, but routine checks usually cover water chemistry, filtration, debris removal and the visible condition of the equipment.

1. Water balance

pH and disinfectant levels should stay within the range recommended for the pool and treatment system. Incorrect balance can contribute to cloudy water, algae, skin irritation, scale or corrosion.

2. Skimmers, baskets and surfaces

Leaves and debris reduce circulation and eventually make the filtration system work harder. Empty baskets, skim the surface and check the waterline, steps and corners where dirt and algae tend to become visible first.

3. Filtration and circulation

Pay attention to pressure readings, unusual pump noise and visibly weak circulation. A sudden change can indicate a blocked basket, dirty filter, air leak or another issue that deserves inspection.

4. Water level

Evaporation is normal during warm weather, but a persistent or unusually fast drop may indicate a leak. The level should also remain high enough for the skimmer and circulation system to operate correctly.

What changes when the property is empty?

Second-home owners still need regular pool visits while they are away. In fact, an unattended period is precisely when a failed pump, irrigation debris or chemistry problem can develop without anyone noticing.

A reliable pool-care schedule should include a simple service record so you can see when the pool was visited, what was checked and whether any issue needs approval. That is far more useful than receiving a mysterious message saying only “all good”.
