Deep cleaning in Marbella: what to include before you book

HECHÍA INSIGHTS · Cleaning & home care

You unlock the apartment, open the shutters and notice everything the last quick clean missed: dusty window tracks, marks around cupboard handles and a terrace that needs more than a sweep. Booking “a deep clean” sounds like the answer, but the phrase means different things to different providers.

Before arranging deep cleaning in Marbella, agree a room-by-room scope. The aim is a clear result, an accurate quote and enough time for the team to complete the work.

Choose the right type of clean

A regular clean maintains a home that is already in reasonable condition. A deep clean tackles more detailed work and accumulated dirt. A move-in clean may include empty cupboards and appliances. Post-renovation cleaning needs its own assessment because dust, residues and access differ from an ordinary occupied home.

Tell the provider which situation applies. Explain when the property was last used, whether it is furnished, and whether any painting or building work has taken place. Do not book a standard clean and assume it covers renovation residues.

Build a room-by-room checklist

  • Kitchen: worktops, sink, splashback, cupboard fronts, handles and accessible surfaces. Specify the inside of cupboards, oven and fridge separately.
  • Bathrooms: basins, taps, shower screens, sanitary fittings, mirrors and accessible tile surfaces. Point out persistent marks in advance.
  • Living areas and bedrooms: dusting, accessible skirting boards, switches, vacuuming and appropriate floor cleaning.
  • Windows: say whether glass, frames, tracks, shutters and both sides are required. Explain any height or access restrictions.
  • Terraces: list flooring, furniture, glazing and accessible drainage grilles as separate tasks.

Turn this into a written list rather than relying on “everything included”. Identify anything that must be ready first, such as a bedroom for an arriving guest or the kitchen before groceries are delivered.

Tell the team about delicate materials

Share the material and care instructions for stone worktops, wooden floors, specialist finishes and upholstered furniture. If you do not know the material, send a photograph and ask the cleaner to check before selecting a method. Products and equipment should suit the surface, with label instructions followed.

Do not assume the strongest chemical or highest pressure will produce the best result. Manufacturer care guidance should take priority. Kärcher’s household cleaning guides organise methods by the task and material, a useful approach when discussing specialist cleaning with a provider.

Check the common exclusions

Upholstery extraction, carpet cleaning, exterior windows at height, heavy furniture moving and specialist stain treatment may require separate equipment or a separate booking. Cleaning also does not repair damaged grout, failed seals, scratched stone or water damage.

Ask what can realistically be improved and what needs a different professional. If you are having rooms painted, arrange the clean after the work and after the contractor confirms the finishes can be cleaned. See our painting preparation and quote guide to coordinate the two jobs.

Make the visit easy to complete

  1. Confirm the address, parking, lift access and key handover.
  2. Remove personal paperwork, valuables and clutter from work areas.
  3. Confirm water and electricity are available.
  4. Agree who supplies products and equipment.
  5. Specify pets, occupied rooms and anything the team must not move.
  6. Arrange a completion check before the next arrival.

For a second home, ask your local contact to check the property before the cleaners leave. Use a short agreed list: kitchen, bathrooms, floors, windows and any paid extras. Photos are useful for visible results, but they cannot confirm every detail.

Frequently asked questions

How long will a deep clean take?

It depends on the home’s size, condition, contents, tasks and team size. Ask whether the proposal is for a completed scope or a fixed number of working hours, and what happens if extra time is needed.

Are oven cleaning and windows always included?

No. Confirm each task in writing, including the inside of appliances and which window surfaces are accessible.

Can cleaning be arranged before I arrive?

Ask the provider about access and completion arrangements. Leave enough time to resolve any missed items before you or your guests check in.
